Currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, painter Mark Horst grew up in small town Minnesota before attaining his Doctorate in Theology from Yale University. He has studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and at the New York Studio School. Mark’s paintings are unique for their use of techniques we normally associate with film and cinematography. In his work, you’ll see lens blur, motion blur, zoom effects, and transitions between paintings that are reminiscent of having captured a number of successive frames from film or video. This film approach lends a realism and familiarity to the paintings as we are quick to recognize these effects from movies and TV.
